Women’s Basketball Hosts No. 14 Arkansas Tech on Senior Night

SEARCY – The Harding women's basketball team will play their final home game of the season on Monday as they host No. 14 Arkansas Tech at 5:30 p.m., at the Rhodes Field House in Great American Conference action.

After the game, the Lady Bisons will recognize Kallie Bartee, Cherilyn McMenamy and Sierra Rollins for their contribution to the HU basketball program.

Harding looks to bounce back after losing their last two games. The Lady Bisons fell to Ouachita Baptist 76-60 last Thursday and fell at Southeastern Oklahoma State 87-68 on Saturday.

HU defeated Arkansas Tech earlier this season in Russellville, Ark., 77-69. Sophomore forward Kristen Celsor hit four 3-pointers and finished with 27 points to lead the Lady Bisons. The Golden Suns lead the series between the two teams 49-3.

Harding is led by Celsor who is averaging 12.8 points per game. Freshman forward Arielle Saunders has led HU on the boards in the last two games, averaging 11.0 rebounds a game.

Harding ranks first in the GAC in four categories - scoring defense (59.0), field goal percentage defense (35.5), blocked shots (3.9) and assist-to-turnover margin (0.9). HU is second in the conference in two other categories – scoring margin (10.0) and assists (15.0).

No. 14 Arkansas Tech heads into the game with a 19-3 overall record and a 10-3 GAC record after winning their last eight-straight games. Their last loss came against Harding. The Golden Suns are currently in first place in the GAC standings.

Arkansas Tech is led by Natalia Santos who averages 16.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Jessica Weatherford is shooting 53.1 percent from the field for the Golden Suns and averaging 11.8 points per game.
