Harding Falls to Arkansas Tech on Senior Night

Box Score SEARCY – Arkansas Tech scored 17 straight points over a six minute stretch of the second half and defeated Harding 84-79 on Monday in front of a sellout crowd of 2,850 at Rhodes Field House.

Harding had its largest lead of the game at 60-49 on Hayden Johnson's 3-pointer with 13:57 left in the game. The Bisons did not score again until Zach Roddenberry made a layup with 7:07 remaining. During the Arkansas Tech run, the Wonder Boys took the lead a Jared Williamson 3-pointer.

Arkansas Tech led by as many as 10 points in the second half. A late Harding run cut the Wonder Boy lead to three on Weston Jameson's 3-pointer with 11 seconds left, but Tech's Johnie Davis made two free throws to seal the victory.

Davis scored 35 points to lead Arkansas Tech. He connected on 10-of-21 from the field, including four 3-pointers, and made 11-of-15 free throws. Jared Williamson added 20 points for the Wonder Boys.

Harding (13-11, 8-6) had four players in double figures, led by sophomore Hayden Johnson, who made all three of his 3-point attempts and finished with 19 points. Junior Zach Roddenberry made 6-of-9 from the field and scored 15. Bradley Spencer added 14 points and Kirk Porter had 10.

Arkansas Tech, ranked 20th nationally, scored 34 points off 23 Harding turnovers.

The loss was Harding's third straight and dropped the Bisons into a tie with Arkansas-Monticello for third place in the Great American Conference standings. Arkansas Tech improved to 20-4 overall and 12-2 in conference play and clinched at least a tie for the regular season championship.

The game was Harding final game at Rhodes Field House this season. The team honored seniors Kirk Porter and Andrew Silverman along with several senior Rhodes Rowdies in a postgame ceremony.

The Bisons play their final regular season games on the road. Thursday Harding will play Arkansas-Monticello in a battle for sole possession of third place, and conclude the regular season Saturday at Henderson State.
