Harding Women's Basketball Falls at Arkansas-Monticello

Box Score MONTICELLO, Ark. –  Arkansas-Monticello senior Chelsea Johnson made six 3-pointers and scored 24 points and the Boll Weevils used a late first-half run to defeat Harding 74-59 in Great American Conference play at Steelman Field House on Thursday.

Harding (16-9, 9-6) led 17-15 with 7:50 left in the first half, but Arkansas-Monticello went on a 20-4 run over the rest of the half and never trailed again. The Cotton Blossoms led 35-21 at halftime.

Arkansas-Monticello (11-14, 7-8) shot 47 percent and made nine 3-pointers. Seniors Alex Hart and Channon Haywood scored 14 points each.

Harding sophomore Kristen Celsor scored 17 of her team-high 22 points in the second half. She shot 9-of-16 and had five rebounds. Senior Cherilyn McMenamy scored in double figures for the second time this season with 14 points.

Harding's loss, its fourth straight, left the Lady Bisons in a tie with Ouachita Baptist for third place in the conference standings. Ouachita Baptist hosts Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday.

Harding plays its final game of the regular season Saturday against Henderson State in Arkadelphia, Ark.
