Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Harding women's basketball shot the ball well Saturday in its regular season finale, but the Lady Bisons could not overcome 26 turnovers in a 68-51 loss to Henderson State on Saturday.
Harding's loss was its fifth straight and dropped the Lady Bisons to 16-10 overall and 9-7 in Great American Conference play. The result sets up a rematch in the first round of the GAC Tournament, as Harding will be the No. 4 seed and Henderson State is the No. 5 seed. The game is scheduled for Friday at 8:30 p.m. in Bartlesville, Okla.
Harding scored the first nine points of the game, but Henderson State answered with the next 10 points. A jumper by Harding's
Tabitha Haney with 6:35 left in the first half tied the game at 15-15. Henderson State's Joycelyn Taylor then made two free throws and the Lady Reddies led the rest of the first half and 25-24 at halftime.
A Haney 3-pointer with 12:57 left in the game pulled Harding to within 43-42. Henderson State then went on a 9-0 run over the next three minutes and led by at least six the rest of the way. The Lady Reddies outscored the Lady Bisons 16-5 over the game's last seven minutes.
Harding shot 50 percent in the first half and 46 percent for the game.
Sophomore
Kristen Celsor led Harding with 16 points and nine rebounds. Freshman
Arielle Saunders had 13 points and nine rebounds, and Haney scored 10 points and added five assists.
Cheree Freeman led the Lady Reddies with 25 points. Henderson State had only nine turnovers and outscored Harding 23-8 off turnovers.
