Lady Bison Basketball Travels to Southern Arkansas on Saturday

SEARCY – After having the week off, the Harding women's basketball team tips-off the second half of the Great American Conference season at Southern Arkansas on Saturday at 5:30 p.m., in Magnolia. The Lady Bisons head into the game with a 13-5 overall record and a 6-2 GAC record.

Harding wrapped up the first half of the conference schedule last Saturday as they defeated Henderson State 66-49 at the Rhodes Field House. HU remains perfect at home this season with an 8-0 record. Harding is in second place in the GAC standings.

Harding looks to snap a two-game road losing streak. On the road, the Lady Bisons are 5-3. Their last road game was on Jan. 19th against Ouachita Baptist. OBU defeated HU 80-76. Before the OBU game, Harding fell at Southwestern Oklahoma State 66-61.

During the four-game winning streak, Harding is shooting 46.0 percent from the field and averaging 6.8 3-pointers a game. HU is also averaging 17.5 assists per game. Before the streak, HU was averaging 13.7 assists per game. Harding is also averaging 3.8 blocks per game.

HU is led by senior guard Sierra Rollins who averages 15.1 points (third in the GAC) and 9.2 rebounds (second in the GAC).  Sophomore forward Kristen Celsor has really come on as of late, averaging 18.8 points for the Lady Bisons in the last four games. Celsor has led Harding in scoring in two of the four games during the winning streak (27 against Arkansas Tech and 21 against Arkansas-Monticello).

Harding ranks first in the GAC in three categories - scoring defense (57.4), blocked shots (3.7) and assist-to-turnover margin (0.9). HU is second in the conference in two other categories – scoring margin (10.8) and rebounding margin (+7.4).

Southern Arkansas heads into the game with a 2-17 overall record and a 2-7 GAC record after falling at Southeastern Oklahoma State 85-75 on Thursday. Before their conference schedule SAU was 0-11.

The Lady Muleriders are led by Kmaria Hobbs who averages 17.0 points and 6.3 rebounds. Two other SAU players averaged double-figure scoring, Shenelda Levingston averages 14.6 points and Katherine McBride averages 11.4 points. Levingston leads the Lady Muleriders on the boards, averaging 7.9 rebounds a game.

Harding leads the series between the two teams 33-20. HU defeated SAU 71-37 earlier this season in Searcy. The Lady Bisons have won the last four meetings.
