TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Harding men's soccer was less than six minutes away from going into overtime against Northeastern State in its first-ever MIAA game, but RiverHawk senior Bo White twice in a five-minute span to give Northeastern State a 3-1 victory.
With Harding (2-3-0) trailing 1-0, sophomore defender Jona Amssoms scored his second career goal in the 24th minute to tie the game. He was the sixth different Harding player to score a goal this season and the first to score a goal in the first half this season.
Harding weathered an onslaught of shots from Northeastern State in the second half before finally succumbing to White's two goals. The RiverHawks outshot the Bisons 17-2 after halftime. Harding goalkeeper Will Lynn started for the first time since suffering an ankle injury six minutes into the season opener. He made eight saves.
Harding will play the third of four straight road games Thursday against Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Okla.
