FORT SMITH, Ark. – Harding freshman Yann Le Mat won two tiebreakers in his No. 3 singles match to clinch a 5-4 victory for the Bisons over Arkansas-Fort Smith on Tuesday at the Fort Smith Athletic Club.

Harding improved to 2-0 in dual matches in the fall and plays Oct. 11-13 at the Ozark Tennis Academy Tournament in Bentonville, Ark.

Harding trailed Arkansas-Fort Smith 2-1 after doubles. The Bisons' No. 3 team of Caleb McReynolds and Brandon Hogland won 8-6 to earn Harding's only point.

The Bisons quickly bounced back in singles. Mathaus Spiering won his match at No. 1 when his opponent, Jorge Salazar, could not continue the match due to leg cramps. Harding then took a 3-2 lead when Hogland won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4. Fort Smith's Cris Ramirez then retired at No. 2 singles, giving Jon Mark Rowden a victory and Harding a 4-2 lead.

Fort Smith's Matt Tabler won in straight sets at No. 5 to cut Harding's lead to 4-3, but Le Mat won 7-6, 7-6 at No. 3 to give the Bisons the victory.
