HU Men's Basketball Falls 60-56 at Ouachita Baptist

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Harding senior Zach Roddenberry scored 23 points and Hayden Johnson added 14 but the Bisons fell 60-56 to Ouachita Baptist on Saturday at Vining Arena.

The loss was Harding's fourth straight and dropped the Bisons to 17-7 overall and 10-6 in Great American Conference action. Harding is in second place in the conference standings, one-game behind Arkansas Tech. Ouachita Baptist (13-9, 9-7) is in third place.

With the game tied at 53-53, Ouachita Baptist's Michael Morris got loose along the baseline and converted a three-point play. Another Morris jumper with 1:48 left gave the Tigers a 58-53 lead.

Johnson hit a 3-pointer for the Bisons with 0:55 left to cut the Tigers' advantage to only two points. Harding never got closer, and Ouachita Baptist's Micah Delph hit two free throws with 0:17 left to close out the game.

Harding trailed 31-25 at halftime but held Ouachita Baptist to only 30 percent shooting in the second half. The Bisons briefly took the lead on a Johnson 3-pointer with 3:45 left.

Morris led Ouachita Baptist with 17 points, and Delph had 12. Austin Mitchell hit three clutch 3-pointers and scored all 11 of his points in the second half.

Harding returns to the Rhodes Field House on Thursday to take on Southern Arkansas. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
