Crenshaw’s 3-pointer Lifts Lady Bison Basketball over Ouachita Baptist

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Junior guard Lauren Crenshaw hit a 3-pointer as time expired as the Harding women's basketball team defeated Ouachita Baptist 45-42 in Great American Conference action on Saturday. The Lady Bisons improved to 15-7 overall and 11-5 in the GAC.

With the win, Harding has sole possession of fourth place in the GAC standings. HU and OBU were tied for fourth coming into today's game. The top eight teams in the standings advance to the GAC tournament in Bartlesville, Okla., March 7-10.

A Jumper by Monica Williams put Ouachita Baptist up 42-40 with 1:33 left to play. Harding missed two jumpers but got the offensive board both times. Sophomore guard Montana Lewis was fouled on the second offensive board which setup two HU free throws. Lewis nailed both to tie the game with 1:12 left.

A missed jumper by OBU gave the Lady Bisons the ball with 54 seconds left. Junior forward Kristen Celsor missed a jumper but got her own rebound with 29 seconds left. After a Harding timeout, senior guard Deshelle Isaac-Boyce found Crenshaw for the game-winning bucket. It was the only field goal by Crenshaw in the game.

Both teams had a terrible first half. Ouachita Baptist only made eight shots and Harding only made seven. The Lady Bisons made their first 3-pointer and then missed their next 11.  OBU took a 20-17 lead into halftime.

The Harding defense only allowed Ouachita Baptist to score six field goals in the second half. The Lady Bisons forced 10 turnovers in the half and had five steals.

Harding was led by sophomore Arielle Saunders and Isaac-Boyce who each had eight points. Celsor led HU on the boards, grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds. It was the seventh time this season Celsor has had 10 or more rebounds in a game.

Ouachita Baptist (15-7, 10-6 GAC) was led by Nashia James who had 10 points, including two 3-pointers. Erica Sharp led OBU on the boards with seven.

Harding outrebounded Ouachita Baptist 41-39. HU had 15 offensive rebounds. It was the eighth time this season HU has had over 15 offensive rebounds in a game.

It was the second straight win for the Lady Bisons. HU evened their road record at 6-6. The last time Harding defeated the Lady Tigers in Arkadelphia was in 2010. HU won 70-60.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action next Thursday as they host Southern Arkansas at 5:30 p.m., at the Rhodes Field House.
