BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Harding men's tennis recorded its third straight shutout with a 9-0 victory over Newman on Friday.
Harding (3-1) improved to 4-0 all-time against Newman. The Jets are members of the Heartland Conference and are located in Wichita, Kan.
Harding's No. 1 doubles team of Kittibodee Signil and Jon Mark Rowden remained unbeaten at 3-0 with an 8-3 victory. Helio Hashimoto and Adam Edwards moved to 2-0 together with an 8-3 victory at No. 2, and Caleb McReynolds and Matheus Mosquera-Carrascosa also went to 2-0 with an 8-4 victory at No. 3.
Harding won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Singnil improved to 3-0 in singles this season and 15-1 in his career with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1. Rowden moved to 3-0 as well this season, winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. Alex Ford won his third straight singles match, taking a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3.
Hashimoto won his team-leading fourth singles match 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4, and Edwards won his second consecutive with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 5. Mosquera-Carrascosa did not lose a game at No. 6 singles, moving to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Harding returns to action Tuesday in Searcy against University of the Ozarks, an NCAA Division III opponent.
