Lady Bison Basketball Falls at SWOSU

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Harding women's basketball team fell to Southwestern Oklahoma State 84-69 on Saturday in Great American Conference action. The Lady Bisons fall to 13-7 overall and 9-5 in the GAC.

Southwestern Oklahoma State shot 50 percent from the field (29-of-58) and made 10 3-pointers. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Michelle Fisher who had 28 points hitting 4-of-9 3-pointers. MaRiah Oyler had 15 points. Kimmi Sawatzky hit three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points and SaRaya Oyler had 11 points.

Harding was led by sophomore guard Shana Holmes who hit three 3-pointers and had 14 points. Junior guard Lauren Crenshaw made four 3-pointers and had 12 points. Sophomore forward Arielle Saunders and junior forward Kristen Celsor both had 12 points for the Lady Bisons.

Harding kept the game close for the first 15 minutes of play until SWOSU went on an 18-4 run to close the first half. The Lady Bulldogs led 43-29 at halftime.

The Lady Bisons cut the SWOSU lead to 12 on two free throws by Holmes in the first minute of the second half. The Lady Bulldogs didn't let HU get any closer the rest of the way as Southwestern Oklahoma State led by as much as 23.

Harding shot 41.5 percent in the game (22-of-53) and made 16-of-21 free throws (76.2 percent).

SWOSU outrebounded HU 37-30.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action on Thursday as they host Henderson State at 5:30 p.m., at the Rhodes Field House.
