BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Ouachita Baptist shot 52 percent from the field and upset No. 1-seeded Harding 78-63 Saturday in the semifinals of the Great American Conference Tournament at Bruin Arena.
Harding (21-9), who entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed in the NCAA II Central Region, will await an announcement of the NCAA Division II Tournament on Sunday at 9:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
Ouachita Baptist (16-12) advances to the championship against Arkansas Tech on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
With the score tied 42-42 with 16:34 left in the game, Ouachita Baptist went on an 11-0 run to take a 53-42 advantage. Harding missed five straight shots and had two turnovers during the run, which ended on an Adam Sterrenberg layup with 12:28 remaining.
The Bisons pulled as close as five on a Tony Cochran 3-pointer with 7:07 left that cut the lead to 62-57. Ouachita Baptist scored the next four points and Harding trailed by 10 or more after the 3:22 mark.
Zach Roddenberry led Harding with 19 points and 10 rebounds. He was 11-of-13 from the free throw line. Sterrenberg added 11 points, and Weston Jameson had five points and four assists.
Colt Fason and Austin Mitchell each had 17 points to lead Ouachita Baptist.
