HU Volleyball Drops Final Two Matches in San Bernardino Tournament

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Harding volleyball team fell to California – San Diego 3-0 and No. 22 California State – Los Angles 3-2 in its final two matches of the Cal State – San Bernardino Tournament. The Lady Bisons fall to 1-3 on the season.

In the first match, California – San Diego held Harding to only 25 kills and forced 25 hitting errors. The Tritons were led by Sophie Rowe who had 10 kills and 15 digs. Calif. – San Diego had eight service aces and 63 digs in the match. Harding senior middle blocker Alyssa Short had six blocks.

In the second match, the Lady Bisons fell behind 2-0 but battled back to force a fifth and deciding set. Harding senior outside hitter Mollie Arnold had a double-double with 21 kills and 21 digs. Senior defensive specialist Lisa Copeland had 20 digs. The last time two Harding players had 20 or more digs a match was against Southern Arkansas in 2011. Amber Parker (2008-11) had 34 digs and Arnold had 21.

Junior middle blocker Liv Savage tied a career-high with 12 kills and captured a career-high nine blocks for HU. Junior setter Taryn Eubank had a season-high 46 assists and 15 digs.

 Harding had a season-high 92 digs. It was the most digs a match, since the Lady Bisons had a 100 against Southwestern Oklahoma State in the second round of last season's Great American Conference Tournament.

California State – Los Angeles was led by Kymberly Silveyra who had 23 kills and a team-high .392 hitting percentage.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Jackson, Tenn., to face Union at 6 p.m.
