Celsor Scores 31 as Harding Women Roll over Southwestern Oklahoma

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Senior forward Kristen Celsor scored 31 points to lead the 12th-ranked Harding women's basketball team over Southwestern Oklahoma State 95-69 in Great American Conference action on Thursday. Celsor became the first GAC player to score 1,000 points in her career.

Harding moves to 11-0 on the season and 3-0 in the GAC.

Celsor hit 14-of-20 from the field with three 3-pointers. It was her third 30-point performance this season.

Senior guard Lauren Crenshaw came off the bench and scored 15 points hitting two 3-pointers. Junior guards Shana Holmes and Tabitha Haney each added 11 for Harding as they both hit three 3-pointers.

Southwestern Oklahoma got on the board first on a 3-pointer by Michelle Fisher. Harding then went on a 14-0 run as they held the Lady Bulldogs to 1-of-15 from the field. The Lady Bisons extended their lead to 23 (26-13) on a 3-pointer by Holmes with 6:03 left in first half. Southwestern cut the lead to 11 on a 14-2 run with 2:15 left on the clock. Back-to-back layups by senior guard Deshelle Isaac-Boyce gave Harding a 42-27 lead at halftime. Celsor had 16 points at half.

The Lady Bisons kept building on their lead in the opening minutes of the second half on three straight layups by Celsor. Harding kept up the pace throughout the half as they held a tired Southwestern Oklahoma to only 27 points. It was the first Lady Bulldog game in over a month. Harding held Southwestern to only one 3-pointer in the half. Harding scored a season-high 53 points in the half, led by Celsor who had 15.

Heading into the game Southwestern Oklahoma led the GAC in scoring offense as they averaged 89.2 points. They also led in 3-pointers made in a game with 10.4. Harding held the Lady Bulldogs to 69 points and only six 3-pointers.

Southwestern Oklahoma falls to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the GAC. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Taryn Sayama who had 23 points, hitting 10-of-18 from the field. Michelle Fisher had to work for average in the game as she scored 19 points hitting 6-of-23 from the field and four 3-pointers.

Harding had 57 rebounds in the game led by junior forward Arielle Saunders who had 15. Saunders had 10 at halftime but battled foul trouble in the second half. Isaac-Boyce came off the bench and had a career-high 10 rebounds.

The Lady Bisons will continue GAC action on Saturday as they travel to Alva, Okla., to face Northwestern Oklahoma at 2 p.m.
