SEARCY - The Harding women's soccer team tied Southwestern Oklahoma 0-0 on Thursday in Great American Conference action after going into double overtime. The Lady Bisons move to 4-10-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the GAC.
Harding remains in second place in the GAC standings. The Lady Bisons are still fighting for a chance to go to the GAC Tournament held at the school who wins the regular season championship Nov. 7 and 9. The top four teams in the standings advance to the tournament.
Harding took 10 shots in the game as only three were on goal. Southwestern Oklahoma (2-10-3, 2-4-2 GAC) had 20 shots and five were on goal.
Junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Miller had all of Harding's saves.
Sophomore defender Melita Sutherland had two shots on goal for Harding and junior midfielder Adair Schmidt had the other shot on goal. Sutherland's shots both were headers and came in the final minute of the first half. Schmidt had an opportunity to score in the first overtime but the Bulldogs goalkeeper Courtney Flores made the save.
Harding will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Alva, Okla., to face Northwestern Oklahoma at 1 p.m.
