Bison Soccer Defeats Southern Nazarene 2-0 on Senior Day

SEARCY – The Harding men's soccer team defeated Southern Nazarene 2-0 on Saturday in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association action on senior day. After the game, the Bisons recognized Kevin Pineda, Jacob Stevens, Ian Park, Gehrig Haberstock and Cole Walker for their contribution to the Harding soccer program.

With the win, Harding moved into fourth place in the MIAA standings as the top four teams advance to the conference tournament held Nov. 6 and 8.

Harding got on the board in the 29th minute when sophomore midfielder Jackson Buchanan took a shot that was saved the Southern Nazarene goalkeeper but the save fell right to junior midfielder Josiah Ireland. He hit the top right corner of the net for his first goal of the season.

The Bisons made it 2-0 in the 66th minute when junior midfielder Christopher Walker sent a cross in from the left side that found senior forward Cole Walker who ran past the Crimson Storm defense. Walker found the lower left corner of the net for his fourth goal of the season.

Harding freshman goalkeeper Tyler Melson had five saves in the game and recorded his first career shutout.

Southern Nazarene (3-12-0, 2-8-0 MIAA) took a game-high 22 shots. Edgar Pineda led the Crimson Storm with eight.

The Bisons will hit the road for a two game road trip that starts at St. Charles, Missouri on Thursday as Harding takes on Lindenwood at 7 p.m.
