Lady Bison Volleyball Sweeps Southwestern Oklahoma on Senior Day

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team defeated Southwestern Oklahoma 3-0 (27-25, 25-12, 25-12) on Saturday in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes Field House. The Lady Bisons recognized Taryn Eubank, Liv Savage, Marindia Turner and Erica Heim after the match for their contributions to the Harding volleyball program.

The Lady Bisons improved to 18-7 overall and 10-3 in the GAC. Harding has now won at least 10 conference matches for the 13th straight year. Harding only won nine in the 2001 season.

Harding is currently in second place in the GAC standings. The Lady Bisons will be fighting for second place the rest of the season. Harding has already sealed a spot in the GAC Tournament held in Hot Springs, Ark., Nov. 13-15.

The Lady Bisons were led by senior outside hitter Marindia Turner who had 11 kills. Fellow senior Liv Savage had 10 kills and five blocks. Senior setter Taryn Eubank captured her 34th career double-double with 31 assists and 16 digs. Senior outside hitter Erica Heim led the defense with 17 digs.

Southwestern Oklahoma (8-15, 5-8 GAC) was led by senior right side hitter Shayne Haley who had seven kills and three blocks. Junior defensive specialist Kaila Lancaster led the defense with 18 digs.

Harding hit .278 in the match and held the Bulldogs to hitting .046. The Lady Bisons also had eight blocks. Every Harding starter had at least one block.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Pine Bluff, Ark., to take on NCAA Division I Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 7 p.m.
