PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Harding volleyball team defeated NCAA Division I Arkansas-Pine Bluff 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-21) on Tuesday in non-conference action. The Lady Bisons improved their overall record to 19-7.
It was the first time since joining the NCAA in 1997, Harding has faced a Division I opponent.
It was Harding's final non-conference match of the season as they improved their non-conference record to 9-4. The Lady Bisons will play their final Great American Conference match on Thursday at Ouachita Baptist at 7 p.m., before participating in the GAC Tournament held in Hot Springs, Ark., on Nov. 13-15.
Harding was led by senior middle blocker Liv Savage, the reigning GAC Defensive Player of the Week, who had seven kills and three blocks. Sophomore setter Abigail Glosup captured her first career double-double with 28 assists and 11 digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Anna Leigh Cargile had a match-high 16 digs for the Lady Bisons.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (8-18) was led by Ashlie Jones who had a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs.
Harding held the Lady Lions to hitting .043 as they forced 25 hitting errors.
The Lady Bisons had eight service aces in the match led by Cargile who tied a career-high with four.
