McNair's 26 Leads Harding over Henderson State

SEARCY – Junior Blake McNair scored a career-high 26 points and junior Johnthan McGee added 22, and Harding defeated Henderson State 92-83 in Great American Conference action Saturday the Rhodes Field House.

It was the first meeting between the teams since Harding defeated Henderson State 93-86 in double overtime to win the GAC Tournament in March in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Henderson State (6-4, 3-2) had its GAC-best four-game winning streak ended and lost for the eighth time in its last nine trips to the Rhodes Field House. Harding's 92 points were the most allowed by Henderson State this season. The Reddies had not allowed a team to reach 80.

After Henderson State made the first basket of the game, Harding scored the next 10 points and led throughout. The Bisons shot 61 percent in the first half and led 42-38 at the break.

Harding knocked down seven more 3-pointers in the second half, including one by McNair with 4:35 left that gave the Bisons an 80-64 lead, its largest of the game. Harding made 21 free throws in the second half as the teams combined to commit 33 fouls.

McNair was 7-of-12 from the field, including five 3-pointers, and made 7-of-8 free throws. He also tied a career high with nine rebounds. McGee was 8-of-15 from the field and scored 11 points in each half.

Junior Andraz Kavas added 19 points and junior Jacob Gibson, who averaged 20.7 points against the Reddies last season, had 16. Gibson was a perfect 8-of-8 at the free-throw line.
