McReynolds' Third-Set Victory Sends 39th-Ranked Bisons Past Delta State

Caleb McReynolds' three-set victory at No. 5 provided the clinching point in Harding's victory.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The 39th-ranked Harding men's tennis team defeated Delta State 5-4 on Friday at the OBU Tennis Center.

Harding remained undefeated at 4-0 on the season, and Delta State fell to 1-1. The Bisons had won only once in the previous 10 meetings against the Statesmen.

With the score tied 4-4, the match came down to No. 5 singles. Harding's Caleb McReynolds lost the first set 7-5 but won the second set 7-5. He trailed 3-1 early in the third set but battled back to tie the set a 4-4. The set was also tied at 5-5, but McReynolds won the last two games and clinched the match with a 7-5 victory in the third set.

Harding won two of the three doubles matches and also picked up points with singles victories from Mathaus Spriering at No. 1 and Germans Uglovs at No. 6.

Harding's next action is Feb. 21 against LeMoyne-Owen in Memphis, Tenn.
