HU Men's Tennis Opens Spring Wednesday at Hendrix

Harding Notes

Harding opens the spring portion of its 2013-14 tennis schedule Thursday when it takes on NCAA Division III foe Hendrix. It will be the 117th meeting between the schools in a series that began in 1974.

Harding won both of its matches during the fall, defeating Rhodes 8-1 and Arkansas-Fort Smith 5-4.

Harding enters the spring ranked 39th in Division II and fifth in the NCAA Division II Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Harding's Jon Mark Rowden is ranked 10th in the Central Region in singles. Mathaus Spiering is 18th, and Caleb McReynolds is 19th. The Harding doubles team of Spiering and Yann Le Mat rank fifth in the region.

Including tournament matches, Harding had a 36-12 singles record and 14-7 doubles record in the fall. Rowden and Spiering were both 7-1 in singles play, and McReynolds and Brandon Hogland combined to go 5-2 in doubles.

Hendrix is unranked in the NCAA Division III Atlantic South region.

Hendrix lost its only dual match of the fall, 9-0, to University of the Ozarks. Including tournament matches, the Warriors were 3-16 in singles matches and 2-5 in doubles.
