Two teams looking for their first Great American Conference victories meet Tuesday at 2 p.m. as Harding travels to Arkadelphia, Ark., to play Ouachita Baptist.
It will be the second of three conference matches for Harding. The Bisons fell 6-3 to Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday in Searcy. Ouachita Baptist has lost two close conference matches, losing 6-3 to Southeastern Oklahoma and 5-4 to East Central. The match against Harding is Ouachita Baptist's last GAC match. Harding will play East Central on April 12 in Ada, Okla.
Harding and Ouachita Baptist were scheduled to meet Apr. 2 in Searcy but the match was canceled after rain forced the teams to stop playing after doubles.
Freshman
Mathaus Spiering has been outstanding for Harding this season. Spiering is 15-2 overall in singles play. He is 10-1 in dual matches, 6-1 against regionally-ranked opponents and 2-0 against nationally-ranked players and has won five straight singles matches.
Jon Mark Rowden won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles in the Southeastern Oklahoma match. He has 11 singles victories in 2013-14, second-most on the team.
Harding has three players with a team-high nine doubles victories -- Spiering,
Yann Le Mat, and
Brandon Hogland.
