Adkison Leads Lady Bison Soccer to GAC Win

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Junior midfielder Audrey Adkison scored three goals and had two assists to lead the Harding women's soccer team to a 6-1 win at Ouachita Baptist on Thursday in Great American Conference action. The Lady Bisons improved to 1-7-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in the GAC.

It is the most goals Harding has ever scored against Ouachita Baptist. It is also the most goals the Lady Bisons have scored in a GAC game and the most in a conference game since the Harding beat Christian Brothers 6-1 in 2007.

Adkison, who had two goals on the season, was the first player to score a hat trick since Mirlinda Lushi scored three at Central Baptist in 2011.

Harding got on the board first in the ninth minute when freshman forward Carley Stevens found Adkison who scored her third goal of the season.

Ouachita Baptist (1-6-1, 0-1-0 GAC) tied the game in the 11th minute when Alisa Trejo found the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

The Lady Bisons made it 2-1 in the in the 19th minute when Adkison found junior midfielder Adair Schmidt for her first goal of the season.

Schmidt found the back of the net again in the 24th minute off a cross from Stevens from eight yards out. It was her second goal of the season.

Harding made it 4-1 in the 41st minute when Adkison scored from 20 yards out for her fourth goal of the season.

The last time Harding scored four goals in a half was in 2012 when the Lady Bisons beat Hendrix 5-1.

The Lady Bisons made it 5-1 in the 63rd minute when Adkison sent in a cross from the top of 18 that found the head of sophomore midfielder Averie Albright who was two yards out. It was her first goal of the season.

Harding scored its final goal in the 87th minute when Adkison hit a shot from 30 yards out that went over the Tigers goalkeeper. It was her fifth goal of the season.

Harding had 19 shots, 10 were on goal. The Lady Bisons held Ouachita Baptist to only eight shots and four were on goal.

Harding will be back in action on Sept. 30th as they travel to Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla., for a 5 p.m., kickoff.
