Lady Bison Soccer Ties Southwestern Oklahoma on Thursday

WEATHERFORD, Oklahoma – After trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Harding women's soccer team scored two goals in the second half to tie Southwestern Oklahoma 2-2 in double-overtime on Thursday in Great American Conference action.

RECORDS

Harding moves to 5-2-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the GAC. Southwestern Oklahoma moves to 6-2-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the GAC.

GOALS

Southwestern Oklahoma 1, Harding 0 – 13th minute – Samantha Nunez sent a through ball to the right side of box to find Cori Kelly who a found the back of the net.

Southwestern Oklahoma 2, Harding 0 – 33rd minute – Eva Rule had a tap in goal after a flick on header.

Southwestern Oklahoma 2, Harding 1 – 58th minute – Audrey Adkison found the head of Bethany Sutherland off a corner kick.

Southwestern Oklahoma 2, Harding 2 – 84th minute – Ashley Sampson hit a cross that slipped through the keepers hands to allow Bethany Sutherland to tap the ball into the net.

TEAM STATS

Harding took 12 shots in the game. The Lady Bisons had two in the first half, eight in the second half and two in overtime.

Harding had two players play the full 110 minutes in the contest.

It was the second time this season the Lady Bisons have tied in double-overtime. Harding tied at Mississippi College 0-0 earlier this season.

Southwestern Oklahoma also took 12 shots in the game, six in the first half, five in the second half and one in overtime.

The Lady Bulldogs had six players play the full 110 minutes.

INDIVIDUAL STATS

Bethany Sutherland's goals was her seventh and eighth of the season. Sutherland leads the GAC in goals scored this season. It also marks the first time a Harding player has scored eight or more goals in a season since 2011 when Adriana Lucar (2010-11) scored 11.

Sutherland and goalkeeper Kaitlyn Miller each played the full 110 minutes. Miller had five saves in the game.

Cori Kelly scored her third goal of the season for Southwestern Oklahoma and Eva Rule scored her first goal.

Harding will stay in Oklahoma and travel to Alva to take on Northwestern Oklahoma on Saturday in GAC action at 1 p.m.
