SEARCY – Harding men's soccer scored three consecutive second-half goals and defeated Southwest Baptist 3-1. It was the Bisons' second victory over the Bearcats this season. Harding won the first meeting 3-2 in double overtime on Sept. 17 in Bolivar, Missouri.
RECORDS
Harding improved to 3-8-1 overall and 2-4-1 at home. The Bisons now hold a 7-1-1 lead in the series with Southwest Baptist. The Bearcats fell to 0-10-0.
GOALS
Harding 1, Southwest Baptist 0 – 54th minute – After a scoreless first half, freshman Jeremy Nwonumah sent a cross from the left side of the 18-yard box that connected with Barry Foster on the right side, just outside the 6-yard box. Foster took one touch and beat the goalkeeper to the far post for his team-leading sixth goal of the season.
Harding 2, Southwest Baptist 0 – 69th minute – Junior Jackson Buchanan took Foster's cross from the left side and chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to double Harding's lead.
Harding 3, Southwest Baptist 0 – 76th minute – Freshman Christian Bernal scored his first collegiate goal on an assist from Christopher Walker.
Harding 3, Southwest Baptist 1 – 90th minute – Hunter McRoberts scored on a penalty kick with less than a minute left, scoring low to the left side.
TEAM STATS
Harding scored three goals in a half for the second time this season. The Bisons also netted three in the second half of a 4-0 victory over Oklahoma Baptist.
Harding opponents have scored three penalty kick goals this season.
