Volleyball Defeats East Central on Saturday
ADA, Oklahoma – The Harding volleyball team defeated East Central 3-1 (25-23, 25-10, 17-25, 25-22) on Saturday in Great American Conference action.
RECORDS
Harding improves to 10-10 overall and 5-2 in the GAC. East Central falls to 3-14 overall and 0-7 in the GAC.
SET ONE HIGHLIGHTS
East Central jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first set before Harding went on a 6-0 run to lead 8-6. The Tigers took back the lead, 16-14, on a 6-1 run on two kills and four Lady Bison attack errors. Harding took a 24-20 lead on a 6-1 run. A block by Zoe Hardin and Abigail Glosup gave the Lady Bisons the set.
SET TWO HIGHLIGHTS
Harding took a 11-2 lead in the second set and didn't look back as they held East Central to only 10 points in the set.
SET THREE HIGHLIGHTS
East Central took a 13-6 lead in the third set. Harding tried to battle back but the lead was too much to overcome as the Tigers won 25-17.
SET FOUR HIGHLIGHTS
Trailing 13-10, Harding went on a 5-0 to take a 15-13 lead in the fourth set. East Central battled back and tied the set at 16. The Lady Bisons then scored four of the next five points to lead 20-17. Harding fought off the Tiger comeback as the Lady Bisons won 25-22.
TEAM STATS
It was Harding's second straight true road victory of this season.
Harding had 48 kills and hit .166 in the match.
East Central had 39 kills and the Lady Bisons forced 28 Tiger attack errors. Harding also held East Central to hitting .075.
INDIVIDUAL STATS
Harding was led by senior outside hitter Molly Howard and freshman middle blocker Zoe Hardin who both had 14 kills. Howard added 12 digs and Hardin had five blocks.
Junior setter Abigail Glosup had 38 assists for the Lady Bisons.
Freshman defensive specialist Taylor Lake led the Harding defense with a season-high 19 digs. Junior defensive specialist Anna Leigh Cargile had 14 digs.
Senior middle blocker Hayley Gerken led East Central with 11 kills. Sophomore defensive specialist Lily Porsa led the Tigers defense with a match-high 22 digs.
