MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Harding women's basketball team fell 82-51 to NCAA Division I Memphis on Thursday in its first of two exhibition games. The Lady Bisons will play their final exhibition game on Nov. 10 at Arkansas State before opening the season at Cameron on Nov. 13.
FIRST HALF
Harding was held to 28 percent shooting from the floor and seven baskets. The Lady Bisons were 1-of-12 from behind the 3-point line. Sophomore forward Mackenzie McNamara led Harding with five points.
Memphis made 12-of-28 from the field and shot 42.9 percent in the first half. The Tigers were led by junior guard Loysha Morris who had seven points.
SECOND HALF
Harding was 12-of-28 from the field in the second half. The Lady Bisons shot 42.9 percent from the field and was 5-of-16 from behind the 3-point line. Junior guard A'ndrea Haney and sophomore forward Sydney Layrock each scored nine points in the half.
Memphis shot 38.7 percent from the field making 12 baskets in the second half. The Tigers made 4-of-5 3-pointers in the half and made 18-of-19 free throws. Junior guard Mooriah Rowser had 10 points, making 4-of-6 from the field.
TEAM STATS
Harding shot 35.8 percent from the field, making 19-of-53 shots in the game. The Lady Bisons made six 3-pointers and were 7-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Harding also had 22 points in the paint and grabbed 29 rebounds.
Memphis made 24-of-59 shots and was 28-of-31 from the free throw line. The Tigers also grabbed 40 rebounds. Memphis had four players finish in double-figure scoring.
INDIVIDUAL STATS
Harding was led by A'ndrea Haney who had 13 points, making 4-of-10 from the field. Haney was also a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Sydney Layrock added 11 points for Harding.
Sophomore guard Falan Miller led the Lady Bisons on the boards with seven rebounds.
Junior guard Taylor Williams and Mooriah Rowser led Memphis with 14 points. Senior forward Brianna Wright and Loysha Morris each had 12 points.
