Harding Men's Basketball Wins 40th Straight Home Opener; Downs Southern Nazarene 86-57

SEARCY – All five of Harding's starters scored 10 or more points and the Bisons ran away from Southern Nazarene 86-57 Thursday in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

It was Harding's 40th straight victory in home openers, a streak that stretches back to the 1975-76 season.

Harding's defense shackled Southern Nazarene, who entered the game with the second-best field goal percentage in the conference. The Crimson Storm shot only 35 percent for the game. Southern Nazarene averaged 11 3-pointers but shot only 6 of 23 from long range Thursday.

Junior Stefan Andelkovic scored 17 of his season-high 20 points in the first half to lead the Bisons. Senior Andraz Kavas scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half. Blake McNair scored 14 points, Will Francis had 13 and Jacob Gibson scored 11.

CJ Rodriguez made three of Southern Nazarene's six 3-pointers and led the team with 18 points.

RECORDS
Harding improved to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the GAC. The Bisons now hold a 5-2 series lead against the Crimson Storm and have won all four meetings in Searcy.

Southern Nazarene dropped to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the GAC.

FIRST-HALF HIGHLIGHTS
Stefan Andelkovic scored 17 points in the first half, hitting 6 of 9 from the field, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range. Blake McNair also made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points.

Andelkovic's season high entering the game was 15 points against Northwestern Oklahoma.

Harding shot 42 percent and held Southern Nazarene to only 33 percent. The Crimson Storm made only 3 of 12 from 3-point range.

Harding went on a 15-2 run to turn a 9-9 tie into a 24-12 lead. McNair had back-to-back 3-pointers during the run.

SECOND-HALF HIGHLIGHTS
Kavas led Harding with 13 points in the second half, hitting 5 of 6 from the field and all three free throws. Francis scored 10 in the half, going 5 of 5 at the free-throw line.

Harding outscored Southern Nazarene 26-10 in the paint and 16-8 off turnovers in the second half.

TEAM STATS
Harding's starters combined for 27 of the team's 31 field goals and all nine of the team's 3-pointers.

It was the first time this season that Harding had five players score 10 points or more.

Harding had 14 offensive rebounds and outscored Southern Nazarene 20-4 on second-chance points.

INDIVIDUAL STATS
Sophomore Reggie Anthony came off the bench and had six rebounds and five assists in 22 minutes.

In addition to his 19 points, Kavas led the team with nine rebounds.
