No. 48 Harding Men's Tennis Meets Newman on Saturday in Tulsa

SEARCY – The 48th-ranked Harding men's tennis team will look to bounce back from its first loss of the season Saturday when it meets Newman University in a neutral-site matchup at Philcrest Hills Tennis Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Doubles will begin at 5 p.m. Both teams enter the match ranked regionally in NCAA II.

Harding Notes

The Bisons, ranked No. 6 in the ITA's NCAA II Central Region rankings, enter the match 3-1 overall and are coming off a 5-2 loss to Delta State on Thursday.

Harding earned points in singles at No. 2 where freshman David Korsten won a super tie-breaker in the third set to improve to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in dual singles matches. Freshman Andras Marics won in straight sets at No. 4 and is 6-3 in singles and 4-0 in duals.

Harding is 19-3 in singles dual matches entering the matchup with Newman, and the Bisons are 8-4 in doubles after dropping all three to Delta State.

Harding is undefeated in dual matches at No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, going a combined 10-0.

Newman Notes

Newman is a member of the NCAA II Heartland Conference and is located in Wichita, Kansas.

The Jets enter the match 5-3 overall and snapped a two-match skid with a 5-3 victory over Washburn on Friday. Newman is ranked No. 9 in the NCAA II South Central Region.

Eduardo Dos Santos, a sophomore from Maringa, Brazil, is ranked No. 17 in the region in singles, and the doubles team of Dos Santos and senior Freddie Sanchez, undefeated at 6-0, is ranked No. 9.

Series Notes

Harding has won each of the four previous matchups with Newman. The Bisons won 9-0 in 2008, 5-4 in 2011, 7-2 in 2012, and 9-0 in 2013.
