SEARCY – The Harding softball team only allowed Northwestern Oklahoma to score one run on Monday as the Lady Bisons swept the Rangers in Great American Conference action. Harding shutout Northwestern Oklahoma in the first game winning 3-0 and then run ruled the Rangers in the second game, winning 15-1 in five innings. Harding won the series 3-1 after the teams split on Sunday.
The Lady Bisons improve to 11-19 overall and 6-10 in the GAC. Northwestern Oklahoma falls to 14-19 overall and 9-13 in the GAC.
GAME ONE
Harding recorded its first shutout of the season as they defeated Northwestern Oklahoma 3-0.
The Lady Bisons got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Mackenzie Jones hit a single to left center that scored Courtney Derrick from third.
Harding got two more insurance runs in the sixth when Jones hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Kimmy Hendricks and Marley Edwards hit a single to left center that knocked in Emily Jones.
Amber Rollins got the win for Harding, throwing her 11th complete game. She improves her record to 7-8 on the season. Rollins gave up seven hits and struck out four batters in the game. Allora Miller got the loss for Northwestern Oklahoma pitching six inning and gave up seven hits and three earned runs.
Edwards and Kinsey Beck both had two hits in the game.
GAME TWO
After given up a run in the top of the first, Harding scored eight runs in the bottom of the first and went on to win 15-1 in five innings.
The Lady Bisons had six hits in the first inning as they batted around. Marley Edwards and Kinsey Beck both had two run doubles in the inning. Mackenzie Jones, Amanda Berdon, Brooklynn Moon and Kimmy Hendricks all had RBIs for Harding.
Harding tacked on two more runs in the third when Berdon doubled to center field that scored Hendricks and Moon.
The Lady Bisons batted around again in the fourth as they scored five runs off of three hits. Kylie Stephens singled down the right-field line that scored two Harding runs and Edwards and Kinsey Beck both had RBI singles.
Danielle Hubbard picked up her fourth win of the season. Hubbard threw all five innings for Harding as she allowed only three hits. Shelby Anderson got the loss for Northwestern Oklahoma.
The Lady Bisons had 12 hits in the game. It is the third time this season Harding has had over 12 hits in a game.
Berdon, Edwards and Beck each had three RBIs in the game for the Lady Bisons.
Harding will be back in action on Tuesday as they host Lyon College in non-conference action in a doubleheader that will start at 2 p.m.
