Arkansas-Monticello Hits Game-Winning Home Run to Defeat Harding Baseball

MONTICELLO, Ark. - Arkansas-Monticello's Travis Steinke hit a game-winning grand slam with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Boll Weevils a 7-4 non-conference victory over Harding on Tuesday.

Harding (23-19) had taken a 4-2 lead in the top of the eighth on Davis Richardson's three-run home run, his sixth of the season. Richardson went 2 for 3 for his team-leading 14th multi-hit game.

Harrison Hunter and Kyler Offenbacker had two hits each for the Bisons. Offenbacker extended his hitting streak to 12 games, the longest by a Harding player this season.

Freshman Reed Roberts started for Harding and allowed only one earned run and four hits over 5 1/3 innings and had four strikeouts. Hunter Payne and Jacob Stripling both pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief. Zac Stewart (3-3) pitched the ninth and took the loss.

Reliever Jeff Harvill (1-2) pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to earn the win for the Boll Weevils. Kevin Fitzpatrick had three of his team's eight hits and scored a run to lead the Arkansas-Monticello offense.

Harding returns to Great American Conference play Friday and Saturday against Southwestern Oklahoma. The Bisons are in second place in the conference standings, only percentage points behind leader Ouachita Baptist.
