Tech Defeats Baseball Bisons 3-2 to Sweep GAC Series;Harding Finishes Third in GAC Standings

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech's two-run sixth inning gave the Wonder Boys a 3-2 victory over Harding on Sunday and a three-game Great American Conference sweep. Tech won 5-2 and 4-2 on Saturday.

Harding concluded the regular season 26-23 overall and 17-10 in the GAC. The Bisons finished third in the conference standings, and their next action will come Saturday, May 2 at the Great American Conference Tournament in Enid, Oklahoma. Harding will play No. 4 seed Henderson State at 7 p.m.

Harding led 2-1 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, but Tech's Cole Fergus doubled in Bryan Heward to tie the game. Keenan Jumper then singled to left to score Fergus with the eventual winning run.

Both Bison runs came with two outs. The first run came in the first inning on Davis Richardson's RBI single. Harding had three hits in the fifth with Noah Chandler scoring on Shane Kinnear's single to right.

Harding had nine hits, including two from Richardson, but left 10 runners on base. The Bisons left the bases loaded in the third inning and stranded two runners in the fifth and eighth innings.

Bison starter Jacob Stripling (6-4) pitched well but took the loss. He gave up three earned runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings. Reliever Hunter Payne picked off a runner to end the seventh and pitched a perfect eighth.

Tech's Cody Jones (8-2) pitched a complete game and earned the win. He allowed nine hits and two runs (one earned) with one walk and six strikeouts.
