Lady Bison Soccer Wins Fifth Straight on Saturday

SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team notched its fifth straight win and third straight shutout on Saturday as the Lady Bisons defeated Southern Nazarene 2-0 in Great American Conference action at the Stevens Soccer Field.

RECORDS

Harding improves to 5-2-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the GAC. Southern Nazarene falls to 3-5-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the GAC.

GOALS

Harding 1, Southern Nazarene 0 – 11 minute – Melita Sutherland hit a cross from the left end line to the far post and found Bethany Sutherland's head. Her shot bouced off the right cross bar and into the net.

Harding 2, Southern Nazarene 0 – 74 minute – Bethany Sutherland hit a cross from the left side to the top of the six yard box to find Rachel Bacon who found the lower left corner of the net.

TEAM STATS

Harding had 24 shots in the game. It was the fourth time this season the Lady Bisons have had over 24 shots in a game.

Five Lady Bisons played the entire 90 minutes of the contest.

Harding is 5-0-1 in its last six games. It is the longest winning streak since 2013 when the Lady Bisons won six straight.

Southern Nazarene took seven shots in the game and only had one shot in the first half.

The Crimson Storm had seven different players with a shot in the game.

INDIVIDUAL STATS

It was the second time this season the Sutherland sisters have connected for a goal. They connected for a goal in the 4-1 at Hendrix earlier this season.

Bethany Sutherland's goal was her sixth of the season which leads the Lady Bisons.

Rachel Bacon scored her second goal of the season.

Harding will travel to Oklahoma next week to take on Southwestern Oklahoma on Thursday at 3 p.m., and Northwestern Oklahoma on Saturday at 1 p.m.
