ST. JOSEPH, Missouri – Harding opened the 2015 season with a 3-1 loss against Emporia State on Friday in non-conference action in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association/Great American Conference Challenge hosted by Missouri Western State.
RECORDS
Harding falls to 0-1 on the season and Emporia State improves to 1-0.
GOALS
Harding 1, Emporia State 0 – 17th minute – Lady Bison transfer Morgan Springborn picked up her first Harding assist when she found Carley Stevens to give the Lady Bisons the lead.
Emporia State 1, Harding 1 – 34th minute – Emporia State's Amelie Heun converted a penalty kick.
Emporia State 2, Harding 1 – 84th minute – Huen found the back of the net again for her second goal of the game and what proofed to be the game winning goal.
Emporia State 3, Harding 1 – 88th minute – Emporia State's Sandrine Beaud found Jacki Martinek for her first goal of the season.
TEAM STATS
Harding had 11 shots in the game and seven of them were on frame.
The Lady Bisons played with only 10 players for most of the game after a straight red card in the 34th minute.
Emporia State had nine of its 12 shots in the second half.
INDIVIDUAL STATS
Carley Stevens' goal was her second in her career.
Huen and Martinek each had four shots and three on goal.

Harding head coach Dr. Greg Harris: "We played hard today, but we were missing that final product in the attacking third. We had the better of the play even with 10 on the field. We have to get over the mental wall that keeps us from doing great things when times get tough."
