Women’s Basketball Looks to Bounce Back at Southeastern Oklahoma

The Harding women's basketball team will look to rebound after a loss when it travels to Durant, Oklahoma to take on Southeastern Oklahoma at 1 p.m., in Great American Conference action.

Harding has won five of the last six games against the Savage Storm but lost its last meeting in Searcy 67-59.

Harding heads into the meeting with a 6-3 overall record and a 4-1 GAC record. The Lady Bisons are coming off a 61-50 loss at East Central on Thursday. Sophomore guard Lundon Williams led Harding with 16 points and sophomore forward Sydney Layrock added 15 points.  

Southeastern Oklahoma heads into contest with a 3-8 overall record and a 1-4 GAC record. The Savage Storm is coming off a 70-65 home loss against Arkansas Tech on Thursday. Rachel Wallace led Southeastern Oklahoma with 18 points, making 7-of-12 from the field. She also grabbed seven rebounds. The Savage Storm outshot the Golden Suns, shooting 43.1 percent to Arkansas Tech's 40.0 percent.


Harding Team Notes:
Harding head coach Tim Kirby will be looking for his 200th career victory on Thursday. He will be the first women's basketball coach at Harding to have 200 victories. Kirby is already the winningest coach in Harding history with a .665 winning percentage. He is the longest tenured coach (11 seasons) and has coached in more games (298).

Harding is led on the season by Sydney Layrock who averages 16.4 points to rank sixth in the GAC. Layrock also ranks sixth in the GAC in rebounds, averaging 7.4 per game.

Harding is 3-3 on the road this season as its last win came at Christian Brothers on Dec. 30th.

Harding ranks first in the GAC in four categories. The Lady Bisons rank first in scoring defense (58.3 points), field goal percentage defense (35.3), 3-point field goal percentage defense (27.8) and steals (8.6 per game)

The Lady Bisons rank second in the GAC in 3-point field goals made. Harding averages 7.8 per game. Lundon Williams has made 22 this season to lead Harding.  

Junior guard A'ndrea Haney has recorded 27 steals this season to rank first in the GAC. Haney averages 3.0 per game and has had at least four in each of her last three games.

Lundon Williams leads the GAC in assist to turnover ratio (3.3). In nine games, she has recorded 33 assists to 10 turnovers.

Southeastern Oklahoma looks to rebound after losing its last two games. The Savage Storm are 1-3 at home this season. Their only win came against Bacone when they won 102-33.

Southeastern Oklahoma is led on the season by Olivia Potter who averages 14.1 points to rank 10th in the GAC. Potter has made 38 3-pointers this season to lead the team and the GAC. Rachel Wallace averages 10.3 points and Kaylie Baxter averages 10.2 points.

The Savage Storm ranks second in the GAC and 28th in NCAA Division II in free throw percentage. Southeastern Oklahoma is shooting 75.1 percent from the free throw line. Taylor Richards ranks third in the conference shooting 92.0 percent from the line.
