Lady Bison Soccer Shuts Out Southwestern Oklahoma

SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team scored a goal in each half and picked up its sixth shutout of the season as it defeated Southwestern Oklahoma 2-0 in Great American Conference action at the Stevens Soccer Complex.

RECORDS

Harding improves to 7-2-0 on the season and 4-0-0 in the GAC. Southwestern Oklahoma falls to 6-2-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the GAC.

GOALS

Harding 1, Southwestern Okla. 0 – 18th minute – Amelia Grizzell dribbled up the left side and found the lower left corner for her first goal of the season.

Harding 2, Southwestern Okla. 0 – 88th minute – Bethany Sutherland dribbled from the right side to the center of the box and found the upper right corner of the net off her left foot.

TEAM STATS

Harding outshot Southwestern Oklahoma 19-14. Eleven of the Lady Bisons' shots were on goal.

Four different Harding players played the full 90 minutes.

The Lady Bisons have won their last 13 straight home games dating back to 2014.

INDIVIDUAL STATS

Sophomore Bethany Sutherland picked up her team leading eighth goal of the season. She also led the Lady Bisons with six shots.

Jessica Woessner picked up her fourth shutout of the season and added five saves.

Alimata Rabo led Southwestern Oklahoma with seven shots, one was on goal.

The Bulldogs goalkeeper Courtney Flores made nine saves in the game.

Southwestern Oklahoma's only real scoring opportunity came in the 67th minute when Ashlyn Collier took a shot from the top of the 18-yard box that was saved by Harding defender Yuri Richardson who cleared it off the line.

UP NEXT

Harding will be back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Ouachita in GAC action at 5 p.m., at the Stevens Soccer Field.
