WEATHERFORD, Okla. - The Harding volleyball team dropped the first two sets, battled back and won the next two but fell short in the fifth as it fell 3-2 (25-15, 25-19, 14-25, 18-25, 15-12) at Southwestern Oklahoma on Friday in GAC action.
RECORDS
Harding falls to 13-6 overall and 5-3 in the GAC and Southwestern Oklahoma improves to 6-13 overall and 4-4 in the GAC.
SET ONE HIGHLIGHTS
Harding took a 10-8 lead in the first set but gave up a 15-3 run by Southwestern Oklahoma. With the Bulldogs leading 24-15, Kelsi Schmidberger had a kill to give Southwestern Oklahoma a 25-15 set win.
SET TWO HIGHLIGHTS
Harding again took a 13-10 lead in the second set before giving up four straight points to trail 14-13. With the set tied at 17, Southwestern Oklahoma went on an 8-2 run to win the set 25-19.
SET THREE HIGHLIGHTS
The third set was all Harding. The Lady Bisons took a 11-6 early lead and then went on a 14-8 run to win 25-14. Harding had 14 kills and held Southwestern Oklahoma to eight kills and hitting .033.
SET FOUR HIGHLIGHTS
Trailing 16-14 in the fourth set, Harding went on a 11-2 run to win the set 25-18 and force a fifth set. During its final run Harding had five kills and two blocks.
SET FIVE HIGHLIGHTS
Harding jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the fifth set on two kills and a block. Southwestern Oklahoma scored 10 of the next 13 points to lead 12-8. The Lady Bisons scored the next three points on two kills and a service aces to pull within one, 12-11 but the Bulldogs had back-to-back kills to lead 14-11. After a Harding kill, Southwestern Oklahoma had a kill by Carly Zak to win the set 15-12.
TEAM STAT
It was Harding's second five set match this season. Both were in GAC action and the first one came at Ouachita earlier this season when the Lady Bisons fell 3-2.
Harding had 51 kills and hit .208 in the match.
Southwestern Oklahoma had 58 kills and hit .199 with 26 attack errors. The Bulldogs had four players in double-figure kills.
INDIVIDUAL STATS
Harding was led by Emily Clayton who tied a career-high with 17 kills. She had as many vs. Illinois-Springfield early this season.
Abigail Glosup had 46 assists in the match for the Lady Bisons which was the most she has had in a GAC match this season.
Taylor Lake led the Harding defense with 16 digs and Zoe Hardin had six blocks.
Kelsi Schmidtberger led Southwestern Oklahoma with 14 kills. Carly Zak captured a double-double for the Bulldogs with 10 kills and 18 digs.

Harding will continue its Oklahoma road trip on Saturday when it travels to Alva to take on Northwestern Oklahoma at 2 p.m., in GAC action.
