Ramos Scores Three in 5-0 Harding Men's Soccer Victory over Central Baptist

SEARCY – On Senior Night for the Harding men's soccer team, it was a freshman who stole the show.

Freshman Christian Ramos had Harding's first three-goal game since 2003 to lead the Bisons to a 5-0 shutout of Central Baptist in non-conference action Tuesday at Stevens Field.

With the victory, Harding improved to 12-3-0 on the season. Central Baptist fell to 2-11-0.

Ramos, of Denton, Texas, came into the game with one goal this season and added his second to open the scoring in the 27th minute.

Junior Aaron Craig gave the Bisons a 2-0 lead in the 33rd minute, heading in a Jason Diaz free kick.

Ramos struck again in the 58th minute, scoring on a free kick from 25 yards out. His third goal came only 68 seconds later. He collected a loose ball on the edge of the 18-yard box and blasted a shot inside the far post.

His hat-trick was the first by a Bison since Adam Borsheim scored three at Central Baptist in 2013. The last Harding hat-trick at home came against Rust in 2008, when Phillip McCormick and Carter Truax both scored three goals.

Ramos' two second-half goals were the fastest by one player in program history, breaking the record of 80 seconds between goals set by Jeff Ireland against Ouachita Baptist in 2001.

Senior Drew Anderson represented his class well by scoring the final goal in the 84th minute. It was the first goal of his career.

Fellow senior Thomas Shults won his third straight start at goalkeeper, making three saves in his first shutout of the season.

Harding finished its regular season 7-1-0 at home. The Bisons are on the road Friday in non-conference action against Christian Brothers in Memphis, Tennessee.
