WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Harding women's soccer team gets two second half goals to seal a 3-1 Great American Conference victory at Southwestern Oklahoma on Thursday.
RECORDS
Harding improves to 8-6-0 on the season and 5-4-0 in the GAC. Southwestern Oklahoma falls to 10-3-1 overall and 7-2-0 in the GAC.
GOALS
Harding 1, Southwestern Okla. 0 – 36th minute – Melita Sutherland found her sister Bethany Sutherland on a cross from the left side into the box for the goal.
Harding 1, Southwestern Okla. 1 – 53rd minute – Sandra Nabweteme stole the ball away from Harding and beat the goalkeeper one-on-one.
Harding 2, Southwestern Okla. 1 – 71st minute – Morgan Springborn found Carley Stevens who scored her fourth goal of the season.
Harding 3, Southwestern Okla. 1 – 89th minute – Melita Sutherland scored her first goal of the season when she took a deep shot that went over the goalkeeper's hands.
TEAM STATS
Southwestern Oklahoma outshot the Lady Bisons 17-11.
Harding's win broke a four-game losing streak. The Lady Bisons last win came against Southwestern Oklahoma in Searcy.
INDIVIDUAL STATS
It was the first time this season, Melita has assisted her sister Bethany. It was Bethany's team-leading 10th goal of the season.
Melita and Bethany each had three shots to lead the Lady Bisons.
Alimata Rabo led Southwestern Oklahoma with eight shots, two were on goal.
