Second-Half Goals Lift Women’s Soccer Over Northwestern Oklahoma

ALVA, Okla. – The Harding women's soccer team scored four second-half goals to defeat Northwestern Oklahoma 4-0 in Great American Conference action on Saturday.

RECORDS

Harding improves to 9-6-0 on the season and 6-4-0 in the GAC. Northwestern Oklahoma falls to 0-16 overall and 0-10 in the GAC.

GOALS

Harding 1, Northwestern Okla. 0 – 53rd minute – Carley Stevens took a shot that was saved by the Northwestern Oklahoma goalkeeper but it fell right to Morgan Springborn who scored her sixth goal of the season.

Harding 2, Northwestern Okla. 0 – 58th minute – Carley Stevens found Bethany Sutherland who scored her team-leading 11th goal.

Harding 3, Northwestern Okla. 0 – 69th minute – Anna-Grace Kirkman dribbled through the Northwestern Oklahoma defense and shot from 10-yards out for her first career goal.

Harding 4, Northwestern Okla. 0 – 90th minute – Sierra Phillips took a shot that was saved by the Northwestern Oklahoma goalkeeper. The rebound fell to Rachel Bacon who cleaned it up for her third goal of the season.

TEAM STATS

Harding took 33 shots, 11 were on goal and held Northwestern Oklahoma to six shots, four were on goal.

INDIVIDUAL STATS

Bethany Sutherland took eight shots, two were on goal to lead the Lady Bisons.

Melanie Matkins also took five shots for Harding.

Yazmin Gomez led Northwestern Oklahoma with four shots and Briana Legaspi had seven saves for the Rangers.

UP NEXT

Harding will be back in action on Tuesday when it travels to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to face Ouachita at 1 p.m. The Lady Bisons will then wrap up its regular season on Thursday when it hosts East Central on Senior Night at 7 p.m.
