OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Junior forward Sydney Layrock had 25 points to lead the Harding women's basketball team over Minnesota State Moorhead 62-54 on Saturday in non-conference action at Johnson County Community College.

Harding improves to 1-0 on the season and Minnesota State Moorhead falls to 0-1.
FIRST QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Harding took a quick 5-0 lead on a 3-pointer by Sydney Layrock and a layup by Riley Rose. The Lady Bisons continued to build on their lead and led by nine, 20-11, after the first quarter. Caroline Hogue had eight points in the quarter for Harding.
SECOND QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Harding increased its lead to 10 on a made free throw by Sydney Layrock with 9:06 left in the first half. Minnesota State Moorhead battled back on a 14-2 run and took it a 27-25 lead with 3:11 left. The Lady Bisons took a 32-30 lead into halftime off a 3-pointer by Sydney Layrock. Layrock had 10 points in the quarter.
THIRD QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
The third quarter stayed close and with 5:05 left Harding took a 42-40 lead on a 3-pointer by Mackenzie McNamara. The Lady Bisons continued to build on their momentum and took a 49-43 lead on a 3-pointer by Sydney Layrock. Harding shot 53.8 percent in the quarter and made three 3-pointers.
FOURTH QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Harding continued to hold onto its lead in the fourth. The Lady Bisons took their largest lead of 11 with 5:11 left in the game on a jumper by Caroline Hogue. Minnesota State Moorhead pulled within eight with 4:36 left but the Lady Bisons quickly answered back with a made free throw and jumper. With 1:49 left, Sydney Layrock made a layup to seal the victory for the Lady Bisons.
TEAM/INDIVIDUAL STATS
Harding shot 47.3 percent in the game making 26-of-55 shots. The Lady Bisons shot 33.3 percent from behind the 3-point line, making 6-of-18.
Harding held Minnesota State Moorhead to shooting 35.7 percent in the game. The Dragons only made eight 2-point field goals as they went 12-of-27 from behind the 3-point line.
Caroline Hogue made her Harding debut scoring 14 points. She also had two blocks and three rebounds.
Sydney Layrock and Riley Rose, who also made her Harding debut, led Harding on the boards with six and A'ndrea Haney had a game-high nine assists.
Moorhead was led by Drew Sannes who had 17 points, making 7-of-16 from the field.
