Second-Half Run Pushes Harding Men's Basketball Past Southwestern Oklahoma

SEARCY – Harding held Southwestern Oklahoma without a field goal for a 12-minute stretch of the second half, and the Bisons defeated the Bulldogs 77-50 Saturday in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Harding (3-1, 2-0) won its third straight overall and its eighth consecutive at home over Southwestern. The Bulldogs (0-4, 0-2) remained winless this season.

Harding led 44-41 with 16:55 left in the game after Southwestern's Rashardd Harris' layup. The Bulldogs missed their next 14 field goal attempts and had six turnovers during the next 12 minutes, and Harding scored 19 straight points.

Southwestern made six of their first seven shots in the second half but made only 3-of-24 the rest of the way. Harding shot 50 percent in the second half and 49 percent for the game.

Junior Tim Wagner led Harding with 21 points, hitting 9-of-17 from the field. Senior Will Francis had 20 points, 17 in the second half, and shot 6-of-7 from 3-point range. Francis made eight 3-pointers in a game against Southwestern in 2015. Senior Stefan Andelkovic scored 10 points.

Markeise Champion led Southwestern with 13 points, and Harris added 12.

Harding's next outing is Tuesday against Christian Brothers at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
