Harding Handful - Five Stats from the Weekend's Action

Here are five stats from the weekend that I found interesting. I hope you do too.
  • Harding head football coach Ronnie Huckeba coached his last game Saturday in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Playoffs. Coach Huckeba finished his career with a 69-40 record, a .633 winning percentage. His winning percentage is the best among all Harding football coaches that have coached more than 50 games.

Name Years Games Wins Losses Ties Pct.
Ronnie Huckeba 2007-2016 109 69 40 0 .633
Larry Richmond 1988-1993 63 37 25 1 .595
Randy Tribble 1994-2007 137 74 62 1 .545
John Prock 1964-1987 244 114 123 7 .481

Additionally, Coach Huckeba had the second-highest winning percentage among Great American Conference coaches in conference games. Huckeba's Bisons went 51-18 in conference games from 2011-2016, a .739 winning percentage.

  • Harding Football rushed for 119 yards Saturday against Northwest Missouri State and eclipsed 5,000 rushing yards for the season for the first time. The 2016 season was only the third time Harding rushed for more than 4,000 yards. Harding is the first NCAA Division II team to rush for more than 5,000 yards in a season since Lenoir-Rhyne rushed for 5,563 yards in 2014.

  • Harding men's indoor track and field had two athletes provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division II national meet on Saturday. Provisional qualification means that they reached the minimum mark to qualify for nationals if they finish in the top 20 in the event at the end of the regular season.
Trey Adkison cleared 15 feet, 5 inches in the pole vault at the ASU Kickoff Klassic. It was the fourth time in his career that the senior from Cincinnati cleared a height over 15 feet and his third career provisional mark. Adkison's career best indoor clearance is 15-05.50 at Samford in 2015.

He holds the school record at 57 feet, 1 inch, set at Emory in 2016. Syrotchen ranks 10th in Division II after the first weekend of competition.

Harding men's basketball senior Stefan Andelkovic made 5-of-9 3-pointers in the Bisons' two games over the weekend, 55.6 percent.
That shooting percentage is really good, but it's actually lower than his percentage through seven games this season. Andelkovic of Vlasotince, Serbia, is shooting 56.7 percent from 3-point range, hitting 17-of-30 attempts. He leads the GAC in 3-point field-goal percentage. By the way, Harding's Will Francis is fourth (51.4, 18-of-35) and Austin Mankin is seventh (47.4, 9-of-19).
