SEARCY – Harding senior Zac Stewart had his first four-hit game to lead the Bisons to a 10-1 victory and three-game series sweep over Oklahoma Panhandle on Saturday at Jerry Moore Field.
The Bisons outscored the Aggies 25-1 in the series and improved to 4-5 overall. Harding opens Great American Conference play next Friday and Saturday at home against Henderson State.
Key Innings
- Harding scored at least one run in each of the first four innings. Harrison Hunter singled to lead off the bottom of the first and scored on Alan Copeland's second triple of the series.
- The Bisons added two unearned runs in the second when Stewart singled in John Chapman and Jesse Cox after an Oklahoma Panhandle error extended the inning.
- Harding made it 4-0 in the third. Copeland reached on a fielder's choice and scored on Chris Taylor's RBI ground out.
- Oklahoma Panhandle scored its only run of the series in the top of the fourth. Austin Beckner drove in a run with a single to center.
- A five-run fourth inning put the game away for the Bisons. Harding had five hits in the inning, including RBI singles from Hunter and Copeland. Noah Chandler drove in two runs with a bases loaded single.
- Davis Richardson walked with the bases loaded in the seventh to drive in Bisons' 10th run.
Key Stats
- Harding starting pitcher Andrew Ralston and reliever Reed Roberts combined for 16 strikeouts, the third-most by Bison pitchers in a single game and the most since recording 17 against Arkansas-Monticello in 2007.
- Ralston earned the win and improved to 1-1. He pitched six innings and allowed only two hits and one earned run. He walked one and struck out a career-high nine.
- Roberts earned his first career save by pitching three perfect innings with no walks and seven strikeouts.
- Harding's 12 hits were a season high. Stewart's four-hit game was the first by a Bison this season.
- Hunter, Copeland and Chandler had two hits each.
- Oklahoma Panhandle starter Tristan Hubler took the loss and fell to 1-1. He allowed seven runs (five earned) on eight hits over 3 1/3 innings.
