Delta State Wins Three Three-Set Matches to Defeat Harding Men's Tennis 5-4

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Harding men's tennis led after doubles but suffered three three-set losses in singles and fell 5-4 to Delta State on Thursday in non-conference action at the Heflin Tennis Center on the campus of Ouachita Baptist.

Harding won doubles matchest at No. 1 and No. 3. Carlos Crisostomo and Henrique Vierira won their second straight doubles match, 9-7 at No. 1, and Brandon Hogland and Chase Stumne also moved to 2-0 together with an 8-5 victory at No. 3.

Delta State tied the match at 2-2 with Julian Massa's 6-4, 6-0 victory over Harding's Brandon Hogland. Adrian Torrico moved the Bisons back in front at 3-2 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Timo Schmitz at No. 2. The victory was the 20th in 25 singles matches for Torrico.

Delta State's Hicham Azzaoui pulled his team even at 3-3 with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Vieira at No. 4, but Stumne again but the Bisons ahead with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 win at No. 6.

With two matches remaining, Harding needed a win at either No. 1 or No. 3, but Delta State won both matches to win overall.

Harding plays again in Arkadelphia on Friday morning at 9 a.m. against Mississippi College.
