Gibson Scores 31, Sets Harding 3-Point Record in Win at Henderson State

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Harding held Henderson State scoreless for more than 10 minutes in the first half and defeated the Reddies 74-58 on Saturday in Great American Conference action at a chilly Duke Wells Center.

As cold as it was in the arena, Harding's first-half shooting, especially senior Jacob Gibson, was equally hot. Gibson had 17 points in the game's first five minutes, including four 3-pointers that made his Harding's career leader.

Harding (16-9, 14-6) entered the game in third place in the GAC standings but moved into a tie for second with the victory. East Central, Harding's opponent in Searcy on Thursday, remained in first at 15-5. Ouachita Baptist lost 84-74 to Southern Arkansas and dropped into a tie for second place.

Gibson scored 23 points in the first half, hitting 6-of-8 3-pointers, and overtook Aaron Farley's record of 206. Gibson finished with 31 points and eight 3s and now has 211 in his career.

Harding shot 53 percent in the first half and made 10-of-17 3-pointers. The Bisons went on a 23-0 run over a 10-minute stretch in which the Reddies missed 15 consecutive shots. Harding led 47-20 at halftime. Henderson State's 20 points were the fewest by a Harding opponent in any half this season.

Henderson State (6-19, 5-15) made a push in the second half and pulled as close as 62-50 at the 5:29 mark, but Harding got 3-pointers from Blake McNair and Gibson, and the Bisons defeated the Reddies for the fifth straight time.

TEAM STATS
Harding made 16 3-pointers in the game and only nine 2-pointers. The Bisons shot 55 percent from 3-point range and 36 percent from 2-point range.

Henderson State made 10 3-pointers, tied for the most against Harding this season.

Harding outscored Henderson State 10-0 off turnovers in the first half and 16-12 for the game.

INDIVIDUAL STATS
Stefan Andelkovic came off the bench to score 19 points and added eight rebounds. It was his 13th game in double figures this season.

McNair scored 10 points and played all 40 minutes.

Zydrunas Jurgutis was the only Henderson State player with more than 10 points. He scored 11 and made three 3-pointers.
