Layrock Scores 25, Lady Bisons Fall at Henderson State

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – A shorthanded Harding women's team, playing without injured starting point guard A'ndi Haney, fell 80-67 to Henderson State on Saturday in Great American Conference action at the Duke Wells Center.

Harding led 35-27 at halftime, but Henderson State outscored the Lady Bisons 25-12 in the third period and pulled away in the fourth.

With the loss, the Lady Bisons are knotted in a three-way tie for second place in the GAC standings with two games remaining. Arkansas Tech leads the conference with Harding, Southern Arkansas and Southwestern Oklahoma tied for second.

Sophomore Sydney Layrock scored 25 points to lead the Lady Bisons. It was Layrock's fifth straight 20-point game. She shot 11-of-22 from the field and also led Harding with nine rebounds.

Sophomore Lundon Williams played all 40 minutes in Haney's absence and scored 13 points. Mackenzie McNamara started for the first time this season and had 10 points. Senior Kaylee Wiedower also had 10. Haney injured her ankle in practice Friday and could play in Harding's game Thursday against East Central.

Dulincia Keener battled early foul trouble and scored 15 of her 20 points in the second half and had 12 rebounds. Haleigh Henson made five 3-pointers and scored 17 points, and Victoria Stewart added 16.
