Harding Men's Tennis Blanks Hendrix in Season Opener

CONWAY, Ark. - Harding men's tennis won its season opener Tuesday defeating NCAA Division III opponent Hendrix 9-0 at the Hatcher Tennis Center. The victory was the first for Harding head coach David Redding.

Harding (1-0) lost only two games in sweeping the three doubles matches. The No. 1 doubles team of Carlos Crisostomo and Henrique Vieira won 8-0 as did the No. 3 team of Brandon Hogland and Chase Stumne.

Harding also won all six singles matches. Crisotomo improved to 5-0 in his career at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Ian McVinney. Playing at the highest flight in his career, sophomore Adrian Torrico won 6-1, 6-1 over Karthik Garimella at No. 2. Junior Neto Cacace played for the first time in his career at No. 3 singles and won 6-2, 6-1 over Kristian Lenser.

Vieira, a freshman, won his first career dual match 6-1, 6-0 over Kiran Chakka at No. 4. Hogland won his 24th career singles match, the most among current Harding players, with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Luke Lefler at No. 5. Stumne also won his first career dual match with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Daniel Habenicht at No. 6.

Harding is back in action on Feb. 18 against Delta State.
