Harding Men's Tennis Wins Again, Defeats UAFS 8-1

SEARCY – Harding men's tennis won for the fifth time in its last six matches with an 8-1 victory over Arkansas-Fort Smith on Thursday. The Bisons will have a day off before taking on 14th-ranked Northwest Missouri State on Saturday in Springfield, Missouri.

Harding improved to 6-2 overall, and Arkansas-Fort Smith lost its sixth straight and fell to 2-6.

Harding won all three doubles matches and have won 14 of its last 15 doubles matches.

Harding's No. 1 team of Carlos Crisostomo and Henrique Vieira continued their strong play with an 8-5 victory that was their fifth straight. Brandon Hogland and Chase Stumne at No. 3 also won their fifth straight, 8-1 and improved to 8-4 overall. Neto Cacace and Adrian Torrico won 8-4 at No. 2 and are 9-4 together this season.

Harding won all the singles matches in straight sets except at No. 2, where Torrico retired in the first set with an injury.

Crisostomo gave Harding a 4-0 lead with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles. It was his fifth win in his last six matches. Vieira clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 that gave the Bisons a 5-0 advantage. He has also won five of his last six.

Harding also collected wins from Hogland (No. 5), Stumne (No. 6) and Cacace (No. 3). Stumne became the first Harding player with seven dual singles victories this season. Hogland's win was the 28th of his singles career.
