Doubles Wins Not Enough in Harding Men's Tennis Loss to #31 Southwest Baptist

SEARCY – Harding men's tennis led 31st-ranked Southwest Baptist after doubles but dropped five of the six singles matches and fell 6-3 to the Bearcats on Friday at the Harding Tennis Courts.

Southwest Baptist, ranked No. 6 in the Central Region improved to 6-5, and Harding, ranked No. 8, dropped to 7-4.

Harding opened the match with an 8-5 victory by Brandon Hogland and Chase Stumne at No. 3 doubles. The duo improved to 9-2 in dual matches.

Southwest Baptist earned an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles, but Harding's No. 1 team of Carlos Crisostomo and Henrique Vieira thrilled the crowd of more than 200 fans with a 9-8 victory with a 7-5 score in the tiebreaker.

Southwest Baptist claimed all of the singles matches except at No. 2 where Adrian Torrico received the victory when Bearcat Gyory Agoston retired with an injury.
